The Bastow Institute is located at 603-615 Queensberry St North Melbourne, on the site of the original North Melbourne State Primary School (307) and RMIT Printers’ College. The heritage Primary School built in 1882 is undergoing a significant refurbishment and being fitted-out, with state of the art technology and learning spaces. The Printers College has been demolished and the double story historical building (the school) will undergo significant refurbishment to create seminar spaces, syndicate rooms, a resource centre and informal learning spaces. A lecture theatre will be constructed underground which will allow the area at the rear of the building to open onto outdoor learning spaces. State of the art technologies will be integrated throughout the Institute’s interior learning spaces. This will include video conferencing capabilities to enable rural and regional teachers and school leaders to participate in learning activities,.
