Xiamen is a city on the south-east coast of China, a major port and one of only seven special development zones in China. It is the home of a number of large international exhibitions. The site consists of 47 hectares of flat reclaimed land. A new exhibition centre designed by a Canadian architectural group is the central focus of the site. Urban strategies for the site and the remaining building programs were awarded to Brearley Middleton to design. The brief consisted of; public square for 50,000 people, a business and conference centre each of 5100m2, a 300 room 5 star hotel, observation tower and a car park for 1200 cars. Felicetti were the structural and civil engineers covering all aspects of the project.
