The brief for the project required a canopy to protect a building complex from ice falling from an adjacent communication tower. The design forces were large due to the height from which the ice was falling, and there were no codified design criteria. Therefore Felicetti established a testing program in which an MFB structure of similar height was used to determine the impact forces on the structure. Felicetti utilized this criteria in the design and documention of the ice protection canopy.
